Arizona rose & Chicago Peace roses in cottage massing

Arizona rose bush grown by Rosalie Stafford, National City, Spring of 2009. Bush was purchased Summer, 2008, from Wal-Mart; was marked-down to half-price ($3.24) because it was doing poorly.

Rosalie Stafford uses no synthetic pesticides nor fertilizers in her gardens. Soil is extremely poor, a mixture of clay and sand. Amendments used consist of home-made compost, steer manure, and generously applied colonies of earthworms (from wormbeds in backyard).   Return to roses index.

Chicago Peace (massing of three bare-root bushes, planted Spring in of 2009) in background, with honeysuckle and nasturtiums providing groundcover.  Remember: roses appreciate having their root-crowns shaded at all times.
