Asiatic lilies, Peace, and Bronze Sunset roses grown by Rosalie Stafford, National City, Spring of 2009.  Lilies were planted Summer of 2008.  Bare-root Peace was planted Spring 2009; Bronze Sunset (newly introduced cultivar) was planted Spring 2009.

In background, note Granada rose, pink floribunda, bouganvilleas, geraniums, hollyhocks, hibiscus, and the ubiquitous nasturtium.

Rosalie Stafford uses no synthetic pesticides nor fertilizers in her gardens. Soil is extremely poor, a mixture of clay and sand. Amendments used consist of home-made compost, steer manure, and generously applied colonies of earthworms (from wormbeds in backyard).   Return to roses index.
