Just Joey rose grown by Rosalie Stafford, National City, Spring of 2009. Plant was bought, Spring of 2009, at local Wal-Mart. Just Joey is a beautiful buff, somewhat similar in color to Valencia; however, Jost Joey's petals are more delicate in appearance, with the texture of fine silk rather than Valencia's velvety texture. Also, Just Joey's petals are held more openly, whereas Valencia's petals are more firmly cupped, almost sculptural. Rosalie Stafford uses no synthetic pesticides nor fertilizers in her gardens. Soil is extremely poor, a mixture of clay and sand. Amendments used consist of home-made compost, steer manure, and generously applied colonies of earthworms (from wormbeds in backyard).
